Woodland Yoga and Relaxation

Engage and Grow Forest School

A summary
Yoga has many benefits including increased flexibility, building stronger muscles and healthy joints, and even improving your posture. Yoga exercises can increase your serotonin levels which sets the body’s internal clock and regulates metabolism. This effect has been found to be boosted by moving outdoors, so yoga in the forest can have double the benefits for you! The forest provides an ideal setting for slower-paced exercises like yoga and relaxation.
This year we will be planting seeds of intentions, using Yoga Asana (postures) to gently open our hearts to the seasonal year ahead as we set Intentions and begin to grow what we want to bring into our lives.
We will share homemade vegetarian dishes around the open fire gather together to connect and to simply rest and be. There is also a seasonal themed forest nature craft activity, no crafty skills needed, all activities on the day are completely optional. You can show up and grab a tea and a hammock if that's all you need that day.
Every Body welcome! We would love for our yoga and relaxation to be as inclusive and accessible as possible, please do make us aware of any conditions or injuries beforehand to support this.
As part of the experience you will have time to relax round the fire, swing in a hammock or just taking in the natural beauty of your surroundings, there will also be opportunities for crafts and nature connection.

I am a Hatha and Yin Yoga teacher, I trained at TKYoga in Framlingham and I am accredited through Yoga Alliance International. I have always practiced and loved yoga and I feel blessed to now be able to share it with others.
I am blessed to be able to join together my love of the outdoors and yoga through Sandie’s wonderful forest school.
Our ‘Yoga in the Woods’ gatherings are something I really look forward to. This year each session will focus on one chakra so that by the end of the 7 months we will have covered all 7 main chakras. I would suggest wearing layers to keep comfortable. All other yoga equipment is provided including blankets. Our forest yoga is suitable for all levels. Please do let me know if you have any health concerns so that I can keep your body safe and adapt the poses as needed. We create an inclusive, safe space bringing yoga to every body.

Engage and Grow Forest School
Sandie I am a qualified level 3 Forest School leader and have over 25 years' experience working with children and young people through youth work, pastoral support and within a Montessori nursery setting. I caught the forest school bug whilst taking my youngest child to stay and play sessions. I saw first hand how interactions with others whilst in a natural setting gave him confidence, resilience and respect for the environment around him. I have been working with another setting for two years and have been privileged to see how the impact of learning through play and exploration has had on the participants. I have been given an amazing opportunity to use a piece of beautiful woodland at Maple Farm to offer Forest School to my local community young and old.
