A summary
This summer at The Florrie, we’re opening up The Basement Monday to Friday for a packed programme of free creative activities for children aged 7 to 12. From movie days in our state-of-the-art cinema and fun in the games room to hands-on sessions in our radio and podcast studio, there is something new to enjoy every week. Kids can also get stuck into arts and crafts, enjoy console gaming, or get active in our Community Garden with outdoor games and sports. Each session includes a healthy meal and snacks and runs twice a day with a choice of morning or afternoon. The Basement is a vibrant space for learning, playing, and making new friends, all in a safe and supportive environment right here at the heart of the L8 community. NOTICE: Children can attend one session per day only and must be dropped off and picked up at the start and end of their session by a parent or guardian.

The Florrie
Inspiring Young Minds in the Heart of L8
The Florrie is a charity that has been at the heart of its community in Liverpool for over 135 years. Our stunning, Grade II listed, Victorian community arts & heritage venue is a social, cultural, educational, and charitable hub for the people of Liverpool. The Basement is The Florrie’s dedicated creative space for the children and young people up to 12 who live in L8. This newly refurbished facility houses: a State of the Art Cinema, Radio & Podcast Studio, Games Room as well as Social Recreation & Educational Space.

We are the youth team at The Florrie who run all the activities in The Basement.
Learning aims
Aim 1
To help kids build confidence, make friends, and explore new ideas through the fun of film and group discussion.
Aim 3
To support children's creativity, communication, and confidence through hands-on art and play in a relaxed and inclusive setting.
Aim 2
To give children the chance to explore self-expression and teamwork through creative media, helping them build confidence and learn new digital and musical skills in a fun environment.
Aim 4
To promote physical wellbeing, teamwork, and confidence through outdoor play and sports in a safe and engaging environment.
