Summer Holiday Sessions block mentored by Engage and Grow Forest School

What we'll do

Let your young ones join us in the woods this summer for an unforgettable day in the woods, surrounded by friends and the opportunity to make new ones, the forest becomes a playground for adventure, creativity, and connection. Running from 10am - 3pm our session are a drop off for 4 years olds (in reception class)-12 year olds. During our session your child can choose to take part in our in some of our organised nature activities or use their time to play, climb, relax in a hammock make some potions in our mud kitchen, or use there imagination to play create and explore. Other activities include nature crafts, campfires snacks (weather permitting) tree climbing, nature connection, tool work, shelter building, making dens and playing games. Our friendly team is fully insured, and all staff members are DBS checked and trained in safeguarding, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.

About your mentor

I am a qualified level 3 Forest School leader and have over 25 years' experience working with children and young people through youth work, pastoral support and within a Montessori nursery setting. I caught the forest school bug whilst taking my youngest child to stay and play sessions. I saw first hand how interactions with others whilst in a natural setting gave him confidence, resilience and respect for the environment around him. I have been working with another setting for two years and have been privileged to see how the impact of learning through play and exploration has had on the participants. I have been given an amazing opportunity to use Margaret’s Copes, a beautiful woodland at Peak Hill Farm to offer Forest School to my local community young and old.

What you'll need

We want your child to enjoy their woodland experience as much as possible, with this in mind it is important they are dressed correctly. Suggested clothing: -Long sleeved t-shirt and long trousers (even in the summer – this is to protect your child from cuts and stings). - Fleece or jumper (it can still get cool under the trees on a warm day). - Vest or base layer (it’s better to have layers that can be removed if needed) - Waterproof coat plus waterproof trousers if possible (if raining/wet) - Wellingtons, boots, or strong shoes/ trainers - Sun hat and own sun cream. - Insect bite repellent. We will provide a snack but packed lunch and water bottles are needed. We have water available to refill bottles.

When you arrive

The sessions will take place in the beautiful wood across the road from the Maple Farm shop. Address: Maple Farm, East Green, Kelsale, Saxmundham IP17 2PJ Follow the signs for Maple Farm then enter the car park. Parking: Drive through the car park and head to an opening at the far left corner, parking is on the grass next to the wood store. This is also the meeting point.
