A summary
Our Mile Oak Activity Hub offers school aged children the opportunity to experience a range of activities, such as sports: football, basketball, tri golf, netball, handball, as well as themed arts and crafts. There is also the opportunity to take part in dance and drama throughout each day. All our sessions include snacks, a hot lunch and food based activities learning how to make meals or explore healthy foods. There is something for everyone at our hub and children are able to choose which activities they would like to do each day. At our site we are able to offer a range of facilities such as quiet spaces, quiet and calm outside areas to ensure that children can have some calm time if needed or a space away from the main group. SEND Spaces: We have 4 SEND spaces a day available to children with additional needs - please select the SEND ticket to identify your child needs extra support. We can support those children who need some extra support to take part and can offer a ratio of 1 to 3/4. This is ideal for children who are autistic, have ADHD, social and emotional concerns or who just need that closer attention. For children who require 1 to 1 support we have a separate listing as part of the short breaks at Bevendean where we can offer a dedicated support worker for each child. Alternatively we can look at inclusion funding to support a 1 to 1 offer at our Mile Oak club. Please contact debbie@activ8forkids.co.uk to discuss your individual situation. We have a number of support workers on site, trained to work with a variety of needs. All children with SEND will be given a key worker and we can include communication books and charts to help with the handover back to parents/carers. On site we have PECS, a sensory area and quiet spaces for children who need that. The activities are all free choice and there is always something for them to do. Our company SENDCO will be in contact with parents/carers of SEND children before the start of the holidays to ensure we fully understand your child's needs and that staff are trained on any specific medication or support. Please make sure you answer the booking questions in as much detail as possible and you can email further information to sendco@activ8forkids.co.uk Children 12+ For the older children (12+) we offer sports leadership training and the opportunity to develop and improve their own sports skills with qualified coaches - please see our sports leaders listing for Bevendean. Longer Days/Extra sessions The HAF session covers the school day of 9-3pm but you can add an early drop off at 8:30am and a late pick up at 4pm if needed. We also offer the opportunity for further paid places - please book at www.activ8forkids.ipalbookings.com Please check all booking details are correct before submitting your booking request. A few T&Cs from Brighton & Hove City Council: • Eligibility criteria – Brighton & Hove HAF funded places are for children and young people in reception to year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals. • Limits on bookings – Over the summer, Eequ will permit each eligible participant to be booked on to 16 HAF places across all providers in the city. If a session is not attended, HAF places cannot be added back on to an individual’s allocation, regardless of reason. It is therefore important that sessions are cancelled before the activity starts, and ideally giving a minimum of a few days’ notice where possible to allow other children to benefit. Bookings can be managed by the Booker by logging into Eequ and reviewing their Schedule.”
