What we'll do
If your child enjoys exploring and being outdoors, why not book on to our forest school holiday sessions. The sessions run from 10am - 3pm and open to 5-12 year olds The sessions provide a great opportunity for your child to make new friends and have fun, playing and learning new skills in a safe outdoor environment. Activities include campfires, woodland craft, tree climbing, nature connection, tool work, storytelling, shelter building, dens and games. Or just take some time to relax, connect with nature themselves and overs.
About your mentor
Engage and Grow Forest School
Connecting people through nature and play.
I am a qualified level 3 Forest School leader and have over 25 years' experience working with children and young people through youth work, pastoral support and within a Montessori nursery setting. I caught the forest school bug whilst taking my youngest child to stay and play sessions. I saw first hand how interactions with others whilst in a natural setting gave him confidence, resilience and respect for the environment around him. I have been working with another setting for two years and have been privileged to see how the impact of learning through play and exploration has had on the participants. I have been given an amazing opportunity to use Margaret’s Copes, a beautiful woodland at Peak Hill Farm to offer Forest School to my local community young and old.
What you'll need
We want your child to enjoy their woodland experience as much as possible, with this in mind it is important they are dressed correctly. Suggested clothing: -Long sleeved t-shirt and long trousers (even in the summer – this is to protect your child from cuts and stings). - Fleece or jumper (it can still get cool under the trees on a warm day). - Vest or base layer (it’s better to have layers that can be removed if needed) - Waterproof coat plus waterproof trousers if possible (if raining/wet) - Wellingtons, boots, or strong shoes/ trainers - Sun hat and own sun cream. We will provide a snack but packed lunch and water bottles are needed. We have water available to refill bottles.
When you arrive
The sessions will take place at Margarets Copse woodland situated at Peak Hill Farm Theberton. Address: Peak Hill Farm, Theberton, Saxmundham, IP16 4TG Look for the Peak Hill Farm sign and follow the long track until you reach the farm shop and take the righthand bend. Parking is on the left behind the barn, parking space is limited so please park with consideration for others. We will meet you in the parking area and walk with your children to the woods.
