What we'll do
Engage and Grow is a place where young people can come together to connect with nature and each other. Set in Margaret’s Copse a beautiful woodland on peak hill farm in Theberton near Leiston. During our Home Ed  sessions your children will have the time and space to explore, discover, play and reflect.  Because forest school has a child led ethos at its core, participants are able to learn at their own pace. Through close observation we can tailor experiences to reflect and nurture individuals skills, interests and play. Participants can choose to learn new skills or develop existing ones, with ropes, campfires, woodland craft, tree climbing, nature connection, tool work, storytelling, shelter building, dens and games.  Participants may also choose to take time to relax, connect with nature and themselves, socialise round the campfire, swing in a hammock or just 'be'.  We are fully insured and all sessions are led by a qualified Forest School Leader. All staff are DBS checked and have undergone safeguarding training and first aid.
About your mentor
Engage and Grow Forest School
Engage, Explore, Connect and Grow.
I am a qualified level 3 Forest School leader and have over 25 years' experience working with children and young people through youth work, pastoral support and within a Montessori nursery setting. I caught the forest school bug whilst taking my youngest child to stay and play sessions. I saw first hand how interactions with others whilst in a natural setting gave him confidence, resilience and respect for the environment around him. I have been working with another setting for two years and have been privileged to see how the impact of learning through play and exploration has had on the participants. I have been given an amazing opportunity to use Margaret’s Copes, a beautiful woodland at Peak Hill Farm to offer Forest School to my local community young and old.
What you'll need
We want your child to enjoy their woodland experience as much as possible, with this in mind it is important they are dressed correctly. Suggested clothing: -Long sleeved t-shirt and long trousers (even in the summer – this is to protect your child from cuts and stings). - Fleece or jumper. - Vest or base layer (in winter) - Waterproof coat (plus waterproof trousers if possible) - Wellingtons, boots, or strong shoes/ trainers with warm socks (2 pairs in winter) - Hat, gloves, scarf (if it is cold) - Sun hat in the summer - Sun cream - We have a pond on site so there may be midges please provide anything that you would like your child to use. We will provide a snack but packed lunch and water bottles are needed. We have water available to refill bottles if needed.
