What we'll do
Our Stay and Play sessions for 0-5 year olds and their parent/carers offer a unique and enchanting outdoor learning experience for parents/carers and their toddlers, set in a beautiful woodland setting. The sessions invites families to connect with nature, engage in hands-on learning, and foster a deep love for the environment. Our stay and play sessions are semi-structured with a focused activity for children to do if they want to, these include storytelling under the canopy of trees, exploration of wildlife, crafting with natural materials, and playful learning. Sessions are tailored to encourage curiosity, creativity, and physical activity among toddlers, while providing parents with a wonderful opportunity to bond with their children and meet other like minded parents/carers. The session starts at 10am, I will meet you and your little ones in the parking area and we will walk to the woods together. It takes around 5 minutes to walk to the woodland along a grass track which is suitable for pushchair’s if needed. Our sessions start at the meeting circle with an introduction of the planned activity and finishes with a snack and goodbye song at the fire circle. For you and your little one to enjoy your experience as much as possible the correct clothing is essential. Suggested clothing for both you and your child are : -Long sleeved t-shirt and long trousers (even in the summer – this is to protect your child from cuts and stings). - Fleece or jumper. - Vest or base layer (in winter) - Waterproof coat (plus waterproof trousers if possible) - Wellingtons, boots, or strong shoes/ trainers with warm socks (2 pairs in winter) - Hat, gloves, scarf (if it is cold) - Sun hat in the summer. During sessions my role is to plan, provide resources, introduce activities and ensure the health and safety of the group. Drinks and snacks are provided for you and your child. Sessions are led by a qualified Forest School Leader ensuring safety and enriching your experience. The forest is an ideal setting for toddlers to develop their motor skills, social skills, and confidence, all while immersed in the beauty of the natural world. If you are unable to attend a session, please cancel using Eequ. Although I cannot provide a refund, I appreciate the notice so that I do not wait for you and hold up the session. Likewise, if you are going to be late, Please call me on 077430060 74 and let me know, thank you.
About your mentor
Engage and Grow Forest School
Connecting people through nature and play.
I am a qualified level 3 Forest School leader and have over 25 years' experience working with children and young people through youth work, pastoral support and within a Montessori nursery setting. I caught the forest school bug whilst taking my youngest child to stay and play sessions. I saw first hand how interactions with others whilst in a natural setting gave him confidence, resilience and respect for the environment around him. I have been working with another setting for two years and have been privileged to see how the impact of learning through play and exploration has had on the participants. I have been given an amazing opportunity to use Margaret’s Copes, a beautiful woodland at Peak Hill Farm to offer Forest School to my local community young and old.
