A summary
Being Scilly is a week-long multi-activity island holiday, all about having fun doing adventurous activities in a supportive, light-hearted and empowering way. With all activities led by women for women, in an inclusive atmosphere, this is an opportunity to learn from local outdoors experts and immerse yourself in the culture, nature and landscape of this stunning archipelago. Group activities include walking, swimming, cycling, boat trips, yoga, kayaking, snorkeling with seals, gin-making and a comedy workshop as well as guided tours around the islands and optional evening activities. Free time can be spent relaxing and exploring the islands. The focus of this team adventure is simply on ‘being’, however you are. The pace of life on the Scillies is very slow and peaceful. Locals exhort us busy mainlanders to ‘Be more Scilly’; just go with the flow and take your time! What you’ll need
Travel: • Bike (with panniers), helmet, lock & small repair kit (or hire from St Mary's Bike Hire) • Large rucksack and/or holdall Camping Gear: • Tent – 2 or 3 (wo)man is plenty big enough • Roll mat/thermarest • Sleeping bag/liner and pillow • Torch/head-torch • Camping stove, fuel & matches/lighter • Plate, bowl, mug, cutlery, can & bottle opener etc • Plastic bags & bungee cords for rubbish, storing kit etc • Tupperware boxes for storing food & packed lunches • Kitchen bits: dish soap, cloths, tea towels, kitchen towel etc • Tea bags, coffee, hot chocolate, powdered milk, oil, condiment sachets etc (campsite shop sells milk!) • Food – there are shops on the island, but bring 1 supper, 1 breakfast, 1 lunch for first 24hrs Kit: • Wash-kit, towel & laundry soap – there are hot showers at the campsite • First aid kit - medications, plasters, antihistamines, painkillers etc • Pyjamas/thermals, ear plugs, eye mask • Swimming costume • Waterproof jacket • Trainers • Sandals/flip-flops •...
Travel Info
The holiday begins at midday on Saturday 16th July. This is when the team will meet at St Mary's harbour on the Isles of Scilly. Once your place is confirmed, you will need to book your travel to the Isles of Scilly ASAP! There is only one ferry per day and it gets booked up very quickly! You can find out information about getting to St Mary's at Isles of Scilly Travel - www.islesofscilly-travel.co.uk. You will need a bike for this holiday. If you bring your own, you'll need to book it onto your ferry crossing as extra luggage at the time of booking. Alternatively, you can arrange to hire a bike for the week at St Mary's Bike Hire -www.stmarysbikehire.co.uk. The holiday ends at 2pm on Saturday 23rd and you must make your own arrangements for onward travel from this point. Please inform me of your travel bookings as soon as you have made the arrangements. Your booking is at risk of being cancelled if you do not confirm your travel arrangements within 48hrs.
