What we'll do
The chance to find your inner child! This is a workshop aimed at those lads and ladies needing a little bit of 'me time'. Maybe you've been to forest school and you'd like to try a craft by yourself, without those pesky children in tow. Or perhaps you've never tried forest school, but you'd like to cook some bread or snacks over the fire whilst chatting to friends, your partner or new people. Please don't be worried about booking this day to pop along on your own as you will definitely be made to feel welcome. You can even have a little swing in the hammock When you arrive, we will provide a hot drink as you chat around the fire. We will try some mindfulness activities as we stroll around the site looking and listening for wildlife. You can then try your hand at some green woodwork. Maybe you'll give your craft to a loved one for for a present or keep them for yourself - you choose! We will finish by cooking a warming veggie stew on the fire to accompany our damper bread Remember to wrap up warm and read the 'what to bring' list
About your mentor
Rebecca at Leafy Learners
I'm happiest in nature
Many years ago I started out at agricultural college studying conservation and environmental studies with land management. Fast forward 25 years and I'm also a qualified primary school teacher and Level 3 Forest School Leader with a child of my own 2 dogs and a cat. I teach in school part time and spend the rest of the week with my son and Leafy Learners. Most recently I have renewed my first aid qualification and gained my food and hygiene certificate (aimed at cooking outdoors). I belong to the Forest School Association and regularly attend CPD events to keep up to date with forest school ideas and ways of working and learning. I've always been a lover of the outdoors and a believer that when we truly connect with nature, we begin to understand ourselves. I spend a lot of my free time outside, walking with my partner, our blended family and our dogs. We are often gardening, finding new places to explore and crafting using natural resources such as wood and fire. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes indoors and outside on the fire. I love working with children and adults, seeing them explore nature. Marvelling at creatures under rocks, birds in the trees or tracks on the ground. Smiley faces as they take risks, make friends and problem solve is why I do what I do and help people to walk with wonder!
