Youth Rites of Passage
Thomas Schorr-kon
A summary
After much consideration Trackways are once again offering Rites of passage for youth. Trackways began running rites of passage in 2000 and passed the baton to many other organisations having inspired hundreds of youth. We currently recognise the sheer immensity of circumstances that are affecting our youth at the moment.
It takes a village to raise a child; so the work seeks to reconstruct the village by parental involvement at two key stages. Many adults have not experienced rites of passage and so need some support in holding a skilful container for their children’s transition in to adulthood.
This journey seeks to prepare our youth to face the current times with deep earth connection, skilful listening and discussion around how to navigate these modern times.
We have a choice we can either just grow old or we can grow wise. Learning to make meaning from life is intrinsic to rites of passage and to growing wise.
