A summary
YOU by Recreate U invites people to learn, connect and create, exploring Salford’s local history and what it means to them. As 2026 marks Salford’s centenary, we want to celebrate this milestone by giving local people opportunities to creatively record their own experiences of life in Salford, capturing their lived histories from the late 20th century to the early 21st century. A day of art, craft and collective creativity at the Transcend Studios space at Salford Quays, supported by a local artist. Participants will explore written word alongside a range of artistic mediums, creating a collective artwork that expresses their experiences of life in Salford. Refreshments will be provided. After the project finishes, the final artwork will be displayed at Recreate U’s stall at We Invented the Weekend. We will also invite organisations such as: • Salford Art Gallery • Eccles Gallery • RHS Bridgewater • Salford CVS to exhibit the piece as a celebration of Salford’s centenary.

Recreate-U CIC is passionate about helping people learn and grow so that they can achieve their full potential. Based in Salford and operating across Greater Manchester, we were founded in 2020 by qualified, experienced teachers,. We work with children, families and schools in our community to improve wellbeing and educational attainment. We offer a range of educational and wellbeing services, programmes, activities and events to support children, families and the community. These include 1-1 and small-group wellbeing sessions for children and adults, HAF holiday clubs, after-school clubs, primary-age tutoring, language lessons, art and craft sessions and adult social prescribing activities such as our gardening group at the RHS Bridgewater Community Grow.
