What we'll do
Each day at Woodlands Summer HAF is bursting with excitement — with even more hands‑on activities, creative adventures, and unforgettable experiences for children and young people. This summer, they’ll dive into circus skills, get moving at JoJo’s Dance Party, and enjoy lots of fun arts and crafts, including paper mâché birds inspired by our nature walks. Children will explore the outdoors through bird watching, insect identification, and foraging for twigs and leafy branches to create their very own summer wreath to take home and proudly hang. They’ll also get stuck into environmental fun with litter picking and team challenges that build confidence and friendships. Creative minds will shine as they design epoxy resin pieces, craft unique jewellery, and take part in a wide range of imaginative workshops. Our animal lovers will enjoy animal visits, giving them the chance to learn, handle, and connect with a variety of friendly creatures. Food fun is a big part of the programme too. Children will enjoy cookery sessions, pizza making, and our Food for Thought activities — where they’ll make their own healthy wraps, prepare their own lunch, and create colourful fruit skewers while learning about nutritious choices. This year’s adventures include an exciting visit to Ninja Warrior, where children can climb, jump, balance, and challenge themselves on the action‑packed obstacle courses. Our family trips are bigger than ever, with unforgettable days out to Bewilderwood and Drayton Manor, offering magical woodland play and thrilling theme park fun for all ages. Children will also enjoy team games, drama workshops, and a relaxing picnic in the park, giving them plenty of opportunities to play, explore, and make memories with friends. We’ll bring everyone together for our lively Family Bingo Night — complete with a warming bowl of curry Best of all, every child receives a free hot or cold lunch and tasty snacks each day, keeping them energised for all the fun — whether they’re climbing, crafting, exploring, or cooking.

About your mentor
Woodlands Community Centre Ltd
A Community Centre for the Community
Tucked at the far end of Netherley, Woodlands Community Centre is a thriving hub of creativity, learning, and togetherness for people of all ages. As a committed provider for the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, we offer inclusive, high-quality support during school holidays, especially for families eligible for benefit-related free school meals. Our aim is to make sure no child misses out. While HAF is targeted at eligible families, we strive to welcome everyone. Depending on available funding, we extend our offer more widely, and a small charge may apply for those outside the target group. Our activities are as varied as our community itself—from our after-school Kids Club and Youth Club to half-term and summer holiday fun, including street dance, crafts, cooking sessions, and more. We also host projects like floristry, line dancing, community meals, and events that bring different generations together and strengthen local connections. At Woodlands, we believe in making every child feel seen, supported, and inspired and giving families a safe, friendly place they can call their own.
