About your mentor
Watchtree Nature Reserve
wildlife haven and community asset for all
Watchtree is a 205 acre, fully accessible nature reserve, situated on the Solway plain, 6 miles south west of Carlisle. The reserve has clear views to the northern hills of the Lake District and overlooks the Solway Firth estuary. Our reserve hosts different habitats, teeming with wildlife. A network of accessible trails makes it easy to explore and experience our UK wildlife in their natural habitat.
What to expect
You’ll enjoy a varied schedule of activities, including: Campfire cooking, yoga and mindfulness, woodland walks, photography, nature journaling, and conservation volunteering and community connection. We are exposed to all weather conditions at Watchtree! We always recommend wearing or bringing a waterproof coat (and trousers if you have them). We ask you to wear warm layers and outdoor footwear that can get muddy and wet. Our site is accessible, should you wish to discuss mobility needs with us prior to attending, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Who is it for?
This programme is perfect for anyone looking to boost their mental and physical wellbeing, build confidence, try new things, or simply enjoy time in nature. You don’t need any previous experience—just curiosity and a willingness to take part. We have a wonderful team of supportive individuals who help run the Woodland Wellbeing session, however this project is not meant to be a counselling service or in any way substitute professional care.
