A summary

This Women’s Self-Defence Workshop focuses primarily on learning practical, physical techniques that can be used in real-world situations to protect yourself. The aim is to build confidence through hands-on practice, helping you understand what your body can do and how to use it effectively under pressure.

During the workshop, participants will learn simple, realistic self-defence skills, including breaking free from common grabs and holds, using strikes and movement to create space, and maintaining balance and control. Sessions are highly practical, with guided practice to ensure techniques feel achievable and effective regardless of size or strength.

Alongside the physical training, we also cover key safety principles such as awareness, boundary setting, and de-escalation to support the physical skills being learned. No previous experience or high fitness level is required. The goal is for every participant to leave feeling stronger, more capable, and more confident in their ability to protect themselves if needed.

Annabel at Actively Safe

Self defence and personal safety trainer

Annabel at Actively Safe

Hi, I'm Annabel, founder of Actively Safe. I am a level 3 qualified self-defence coach, training with the National Federation for Personal Safety. Martial arts have been a part of my life since my teenage years, but my true focus is helping individuals feel confident in their personal safety so they can fully embrace all of life’s opportunities. I personally regularly train in Krav Maga and Indonesian Silat, with additional experience in Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing. As a mum, I am especially passionate about educating young people and empowering them with practical, effective personal safety skills. Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, including dinghy racing, cycling, skiing, and countryside walks with our dog.
