A summary
This session gives children and young people the chance to enjoy a mix of cooking, outdoor activities and nature-based learning in a fun and supportive way. The day will begin at Young People Count in Pocklington, where the group will prepare and eat spaghetti bolognese together, with water and healthy snacks available. This gives everyone a chance to settle in, spend time together and build confidence through simple practical cooking skills. We will then walk together to the forest area, using the journey as a chance to chat, reflect and gather some initial thoughts from the group. Once there, Rewilding Youth will lead a 2.5-hour session packed with hands-on activities, shaped around the interests of the young people attending. Depending on the group, this could include bushcraft, whittling and green woodwork, hammock time, plant and animal identification, traditional ancestral skills, foraging and foraging law, and nature crafts. Water, cups and fruit will be taken with us for the forest session. The day is all about helping young people build confidence outdoors, work together, try new things and enjoy positive shared experiences in nature. It will encourage teamwork, curiosity, practical skills and safe risk-taking, while giving young people some choice in the activities they take part in. Rewilding Youth will deliver the session with the appropriate insurance in place, and we will then return to YPC for parent collection and sign-out.
