What we'll do
As soon as they arrive, your children will feel welcome, our nature-based holiday club where children can spend their day outdoors exploring, creating, playing and simply being themselves, we meet them where they are on their journey. Our sessions take place in our off-grid Fen Zen space, surrounded by big skies, fresh air and nature. It’s a place where children can slow down from the busy pace of everyday life and enjoy the simple things that childhood should be full of — climbing, crafting, discovering, laughing and making new friends.

FAQ's
Where does the club take place? Sessions take place at our Fen Zen space beside the historic Denver Sluice in the Norfolk Fens. It’s a peaceful, off-grid outdoor setting surrounded by nature. What kinds of activities will children do? Each day includes a mix of nature play, creative crafts, games and sports. Children might build dens, create nature art, explore the land, play group games or enjoy simple outdoor adventures. Do children have to join in with everything? Not at all. We encourage children to take part in ways that feel comfortable for them. Some love energetic games, while others prefer crafting or quieter nature activities. Is the club suitable for children who need extra support? We aim to create a small, friendly and inclusive space where children feel welcome and supported. If your child has additional needs, please let us know when booking so we can discuss how best to support them. Will the children be outdoors all day? Yes, most of the day is spent outdoors enjoying nature. We start and finish in our beautiful wooden roundhouse which we also use for crafting, resting and eating if the weather changes. What should my child bring? Please send your child with weather-appropriate clothing (including waterproofs if needed), sturdy shoes or wellies, a filled water bottle, any medication should be handed to a staff member at the welcome gate. What food is provided? We provide a hot, nutritious lunch each day, often using fresh ingredients grown here at Fen Zen. Children will also receive two snacks — fruit in the morning, and rice cakes in the afternoon. Fresh water is always available, but please make sure your child brings their own water bottle too so they can stay hydrated throughout the day. What if the weather is bad? We embrace the outdoors in most weather, but we always make sure children stay safe, warm and comfortable. We have sheltered areas for activities if needed. Who runs the sessions? Wild & Free is run by the super qualified and friendly Fen Zen team, who have experience supporting children and creating calm, welcoming outdoor spaces.
