What we'll do
Doors open from 9.45am. Upon arrival at Echo Youth Theatre, your child will be welcomed in by our Youth Volunteers giving them their name badge. After that you will approach the front desk and sign in with the Room Lead before leaving your child to enjoy their day. Our workshops will start with some drama games to gently settle the children into the environment. During this workshop your child will learn two of the following theatre skills: acting, dance, design, face paint, musical theatre, physical theatre, singing, and stage combat. Lunch is sat in 2-3 sittings as the children rotate through a themed food and craft activity. At 2.45pm there will be a short showcase to parents/carers with the children going home at 3pm. Snack and lunch will be provided to every participant.

Echo Youth Theatre
Entry-Level Theatre Skills Workshops
Echo Youth Theatre offers HAF funded theatre skill workshops to means-tested free school meal eligible families. We run workshops for 7-12yrs and 12-16yrs. Participants can expect a mix of engaging and fun activities. Each of our workshops include two of the following theatre skills: acting, dance, design, face paint, musical theatre, physical theatre, singing, and stage combat. Participants will rotate through themed food and craft activities over lunchtime.
Support within our setting
We have three levels of support available at our workshops. Buddy Our Buddies are made up from our teenage Echo Youth Theatre members (12-16yrs). If your child sometimes feels nervous in new situations or you think they may need a friendly face to help them through the day, a Buddy can be arranged. Each Buddy supports up to 3 children. Please bear in mind that Buddies act as friends and are not SEND practitioners. 1:2 An adult practitioner who assists 2 children throughout their day at Echo. This support is ideal for children who may need help in social situations or with understanding tasks, however have the ability to partake in activities independently for the majority of the day. Children who benefit from this support are usually those who like someone to watch from afar and be available to check in with. 1:1 An adult practitioner who assists 1 SEN child throughout their day at Echo. This is for children who require close assistance in social situations and help staying focused on tasks and understanding instructions. This support is best suited to children who receive this level of support in school. This level of support requires staff organisation, so please let us know in good time. Please note the following regarding our workshops. We do not have a breakout room available and therefore our environment may not be suited to all children, especially those who have high-level sensory seeking tendencies. Our venue is wheelchair accessible, however our workshops may not be suited to all wheelchair users due to space and adaptability; please contact us for more information regarding this. If the workshop your booking is Dance based, the main part of the day will be spent dancing.
Learning aims
Aim 1
THEATRE SKILLS - Participants will be able to follow instructions to learn new skills.
Aim 2
PERFORMANCE - Through encouragement and practice, participants will build up the confidence to take part in the end of day showcase to parents/carers.
Aim 3
FOOD - Participants will be encouraged to make healthy choices at snack and lunch. They will follow step-by-step instructions to to complete a food activity.
What you'll need
Please dress your child in suitable clothing to move around. If your child wears a dress or skirt, please place leggings or shorts underneath. We suggest children bring a water bottle to aid hydration.

Cancellation Policy
Free bookings do not require refunds but as places are limited, please cancel if you cannot attend so that your place can be offered to someone else.Due to new regulations, on the day no shows may result in cancellation of all future Echo Youth Theatre workshop places for your child, including places during the remainder of the Easter period.

My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
