The Tatton
Our story began in 2005, founded by a group of local residents to turn a near derelict building as Ordsall Community Café. The building had been subject to vandalism and arson attacks, and in the early days of the project, committee members even had to occasionally sleep there overnight to protect it. Our name, and our work, are steeped in the rich community spirit of this area. With a simple, yet profound, goal, to create an accessible, friendly, and safe space. Where local people could meet, exchange stories, and connect over a cup of tea. This foundational commitment to community wellbeing and spirit became especially critical during the pandemic. Our team stepped up to launch a crucial Meals on Wheels service, ensuring the elderly and vulnerable received nutritious, hot food and regular doorstep contact when they needed it most. Having evolved from the initial project, we rebranded as The Tatton to reflect our expanded role as a full-service community hub on Tatton Street. We continue to build on our original mission to advance the health, skills, and overall quality of life for all local residents.
