What we'll do
Playing with Puppetry, Tuesday 21st July Inspired by theatre-makers, in this session we'll imagine up characters and bring them to life as puppets. Our Artist, Elizabeth Blades, will show different puppet-making techniques then you'll explore how light can animate our creations. Creative Movement and Dance, Thursday 30th July Join dance artists Freya Davis and Lexy Garner for their themed movement workshop "Cosmic Quest". Expect games and icebreakers, music and sensory explorations and creative tasks inspired by rockets, planets and meteor showers. This session encourages dance, creativity, confidence, and playful participation in a fun and welcoming environment for all abilities to leave young people feeling energised and proud. This session is recommended for ages 11 - 16. Printing "with" Nature, Friday 7th August In this session we'll be bringing the outside indoors, using nature to create and inspire printed artworks. Artists Alison Woolacott and Elizabeth Blades will show you how to use different techniques like solar printing, making natural inks and clay impression stamps then it's over to you to play and experiment. Create a Play in a Day, Friday 14th August Delivered with our friends at youth arts charity RicNic, we'll hand you an empty stage, you decide what to fill it with. Every element is yours to create as you work collectively to explore ideas and bring a show to life from a blank canvas. It’s your show, your rules! This session is recommended for ages 11 - 16. DIY Zines, Tuesday 18th August Creating a Zine is a fun, DIY way to share your ideas, art or stories. In this session our visual arts tutors, Alison Woolacott and Elizabeth Blades, will show you simple ways you can create your own book from a single sheet of paper. Experiment with drawing games, collage-making, acting out and free play to develop your ideas and make your very own publication. Be an Artist for the Day, Wednesday 26th August Try your hand at different drawing and painting techniques with the support of our visual art tutors, Elizabeth Blades and Nicola Bingham, to create your own artwork inspired by still life. This session encourages creative expression, experimentation and will look to build confidence in young artists, working with professional equipment such as easels. At the end of the session, we will display our artwork in a special pop-up exhibition.
