A summary
Join us for a 1.5 hour taster session of water sports at Hove Lagoon to include Stand Up Paddle Boarding and raft building. The session starts at 4pm and finishes at 5.30pm. Young people need to be at Hove Lagoon at 3.30pm to allow for booking in and changing. Late comers may not be able to join the session. We have also allowed time at the end to get showered and changed Important: You will need: Swimwear • Towel: • Plastic Bag: To put wet things in. • Other stuff: Sunscreen, layers in case the wind gets up, anorak or waterproof jacket. Bring drinks and snacks Wetsuits and safety equipment are provided. Priority bookings will be given to young people who regularly attend youth clubs or holiday clubs with the Trust for Developing Communities. Our term time youth clubs run from Whitehawk Family Hub, Woodingdean Youth Centre, 67 Centre in Moulsecoomb and Old Boat Community Centre in Hollingbury. The Trust for Developing Communities tackles inequality in Brighton & Hove. We work with communities facing poverty and exclusion, bringing people together to take action and deliver community-led solutions. TDC is the lead Youth Work provider in the North and East of Brighton, on behalf of Brighton & Hove City Council’ Youth Grants Programme. All of our Youth Sessions are open to young people aged 11+. We are Inclusive of everyone and offer a safe space for everyone to join in our sessions. We aim to be proactive in supporting young people to join in. How to get there
If you are making your own travel arrangements: By Car: There is free parking for up to 4 hours opposite the Lagoon. If this is full or you will be staying for longer there is further metered parking on the southern side of the main coast road, the A259 Kingsway, just a short walk to the Lagoon. Opposite the lagoon is a residential area which has a small residents parking restriction on it, please check at the time of parking. By Bus: Stagecoach bus 700 runs along the coast road and stops near Hove Lagoon. Allow 10 minutes to walk to Hove Lagoon Watersports Buses 1 and 6 are the nearest Brighton and Hove bus routes. They travel along New Church Road. You will need to get off at Wish Park or Brittany Court and then walk about 20 minutes down to Hove Lagoon.
