A summary
“A fun, hands-on activity where children design their own sweets while learning about creativity, choice, and teamwork.” During our February half-term activity, children will take part in a fun, hands-on project where they become sweet designers, working together in small groups to invent their own confectionery products. Alongside the creative element, the session will introduce important conversations about food, health, and making informed choices. Children will explore different food groups and learn how treats fit into a balanced diet. Through guided discussion, we will talk about why some foods are better for everyday eating and why others are best enjoyed occasionally, helping children understand moderation rather than restriction. Topics such as portion sizes, sugar content, and how food choices can affect our bodies — including links to obesity and overall health — will be discussed in an age-appropriate, supportive way. The activity will also include practical life skills. Children will consider how to design their sweet on a budget, learning that cost is an important part of food production and shopping. They will practise creating simple shopping lists, thinking about ingredients, quantities, and value for money, and discussing how families make choices when shopping for food. Working in groups encourages teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Children will share ideas, listen to others, make decisions together, and agree on a final design. Each group will come up with a sweet name and packaging design, thinking about what would appeal to customers while still being responsible and realistic. Overall, this session blends creativity with food education, helping children build a positive relationship with food, understand healthy choices, and develop practical skills — all in a relaxed, enjoyable environment designed to boost confidence and collaboration.

Sugar Rush
Sugar Rush – Movement & Activity Sugar Rush sessions provide fun, age-appropriate opportunities for children and young people to take part in physical activity through movement-based games and light exercise, delivered in the sports hall. Activities focus on participation, enjoyment and confidence, rather than competition, and are designed to be inclusive and adaptable for different ages, abilities and needs. Sessions include a mix of gentle warm-ups, active games, movement challenges and cool-down activities. Children are encouraged to take part at their own pace, with options for low-impact or seated activities where appropriate. Regular breaks are built in, and activities are adjusted in response to individual needs and energy levels. The aim of Sugar Rush is to promote healthy movement, physical wellbeing, social interaction and a positive experience of being active in a supportive environment.
