A summary

Have you ever wanted to learn to cook a delicious meal? Well, if so, this is your chance to do it in a supportive environment! Ceri and Sue are delighted to be hosting JIGSAW's very first cookery session for young people aged 14–18 at Turnberries in Thornbury. Over four, fun and interactive hours, participants will get stuck into hands-on cooking, explore and choose flavours and menu ideas together, and finish by enjoying a delicious meal they've helped create. The young people will have the choice of cooking chicken or vegetable kebabs, flatbreads and banana biscuit crunch.  They will then eat their meal together, work together to wash up and leave the venue as they found it. Aims of the session - To build confidence in basic cookery skills in a supportive environment - To encourage independence and practical life skills around food preparation - To explore creativity through choosing flavours, ingredients and menu ideas - To promote social interaction and teamwork while cooking together - To support wellbeing through a relaxed, enjoyable shared activity - To increase awareness of simple, affordable and healthy meal options  We welcome all current JIGSAW Thornbury members, as well as other members of the community who may benefit from joining our charity. If you are not currently a member, we will require you to apply for our free membership as part of the booking conditions, so that we can ensure your young person's safety and well-being during the activity. There are 5 HAF funded places available, but please be aware that there will be a total of 10 young people ages 14-25 at the session. If you feel you are in a position to pay for a space, please visit our website, where the remaining 5 tickets are available for a cost of £6 each, bookable through our Charity Suite platform. To help protect our vulnerable children and young people, parent carers, volunteers and staff at JIGSAW Thornbury, we ask that our members: - Do not come into the venue or to any events or activities if you have symptoms of a contagious or respiratory infection, and you have a high temperature or you do not feel well enough to go to work or carry out normal activities. This also includes if you have a positive COVID- 19 test result. - Follow the guidance in the following link https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/health-protection-in-schools-and-other-childcare-facilities/children-and-young-people-settings-tools-and-resources - Please consider additional precautions and consider whether your visit is necessary before attending the venue or any events or activities if someone in your household has symptoms of a contagious or respiratory infection or a positive test result for COVID-19. - Continue to practice good hygiene including washing your hands, cover your coughs and sneezes. - Respect any additional precautions individuals might ask for such as letting fresh air indoors, limiting close contact with people, or wearing a face covering.
