Summer School and Youth Theatre Sussex block mentored by Drama and Dance Club Sussex

What we'll do

We're back with our ever-popular Summer Theatre School and Summer Youth Theatre programme. This year, 5 DAYS of acting, improvisation + voice, with dance master classes from our professional choreographer and a master class by our stage fighting specialist. PLUS! Games, singing, craft and card making, costumes, props + more! We will be presenting an original production specially written for our Summer Theatre School which will include acting, singing and dancing. All parents and carers and families are welcome to come and watch our performance on the last day in our fabulous theatre Bookings open now!! Date: Monday 4th- 8th August 2025 Times: 9.30am to 5pm. Day includes: Lunch (provided free for HAF participants) At our holiday clubs we all come together for warm -ups, theatre games and activities. Drama Kids + Youth Theatre are then generally split into 2-3 groups (depending on age), to work separately on our specially written scenes, and unique dance & song routines with our professional choreographer. The 'Backstage' world of craft, prop making and design challenges are on offer too. There's an opportunity for EVERYONE to participate in dance routines and drama. It is all about fun and having a good time. As well as free HAF places we also accept Self Pay students. HAF children will receive a free lunch. Self-pay children can book lunch for £5.00. A few T&Cs from Brighton & Hove City Council: • Eligibility criteria – Brighton & Hove HAF-funded places are for children and young people in reception to year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals. • Limits on bookings – Over the Summer holidays Eequ will permit each eligible participant to be booked on to 16 HAF places across all providers in the city. If a session is not attended, HAF places cannot be added back onto an individual’s allocation, regardless of reason. It is therefore important that sessions are cancelled before the activity starts, and ideally giving a minimum of a few days’ notice where possible to allow other children to benefit. Bookings can be managed by the Booker by logging into Eequ and reviewing their Schedule.

NEW NAME - SAME GREAT TEAM. Hello! Our team have been running performing arts holiday clubs since 2018 in Brighton, Hove and Worthing. Our friendly + inclusive clubs are run by experienced and fully trained professionals with a wealth of experience in theatre, film making and teaching young people. We’ve been approved providers since 2020 with Brighton, Hove and West Sussex local authorities delivering the Holiday Activity and Food programme.

Learning aims

Aim 1

One of the greatest life skills we can teach our kids is to communicate confidently. This is why drama is such a valuable tool in preparing them to be all they can be in the world.

Aim 3

Movement Physical expression, miming to music, and a bit of dance –though no dancing shoes are required. As well as improving their coordination, students learn to feel good in their own bodies, improve their posture and hold their own in a social and creative space.

Aim 2

Speech Our strong focus on verbal dynamics and English language helps students to develop a clear, compelling voice and good listening skills. Immensely useful stuff, whether they’re expressing themselves on a public or theatrical stage.

Aim 4

Drama We stimulate creativity through structured improvisation, dialogue, characterisation, snippets, scene starters, and acting out original scripts as an ensemble. This practice goes beyond stage skills, helping kids to socialise and overcome shyness in groups.
