A summary

We will be making ceramic items using different hand building techniques like clay modelling, pinching, coiling and slabs construction. They will also have the opportunity to learn about potters wheels and how to use them. We will decorate the finished work with coloured slips and glaze. The children will be learning about different decoration techniques like sgraffito and stencils. Projects will be provided, but they will also be encouraged to bring their own ideas. Materials included in the price Up to 2.5 kilograms of weight.

I am a ceramic artist, potter and designer. I have been working with ceramics for 20 years. I teach in my studio in Forest Row and at Michael Hall School. 

Learning aims

Aim 1

Children will be able to learn pinched pots and coiling techniques.

Aim 2

Children will be able to learn slap building techniques and an introduction to how to use the potters wheels.

Aim 3

Children will be able to learn about decorating their pots with slips.
