Clever Never Goes – Stranger Awareness & Introduction to Traditional Karate Activity Title: Clever Never Goes – Stranger Awareness & Introduction to Traditional Karate Activity Description: This session introduces children to important personal safety skills through our “Clever Never Goes” stranger awareness programme, followed by a fun and engaging introduction to Traditional Karate. The stranger awareness section teaches children how to recognise potentially unsafe situations and gives them simple strategies to stay safe in everyday environments such as parks, streets, or public places. Through games, role-play scenarios, and discussion, children learn: The difference between safe and unsafe situations How to respond if approached by someone they do not know How to use their voice, awareness, and movement to stay safe The importance of telling a trusted adult This is delivered in a child-friendly and empowering way, focusing on confidence and decision-making rather than fear. Following this, children take part in an Introduction to Traditional Karate session where they will learn basic martial arts movements and skills such as: Basic stances and movement Simple blocks and strikes Balance, coordination and focus Respect, discipline and teamwork The karate element reinforces the safety messages by helping children develop confidence, awareness, and self-control. The session is designed to be inclusive, active, and supportive, allowing children of all abilities to participate and enjoy learning new skills. Intended Outcomes for Children Children participating in this session will: Develop a better understanding of personal safety and awareness Learn how to respond confidently in uncomfortable situations Improve confidence and communication skills Develop coordination, balance, and physical activity levels Learn the importance of respect, discipline, and teamwork The activities support both physical wellbeing and personal development, helping children feel more confident and capable.
