What we'll do
The days will begin with a storytelling performance by Daniel of an old Sussex tale. This will be followed by time in nature to reflect and gain inspiration for our creative time. Lateefa will then facilitate an art space in the studio, bringing the story alive. After lunch there will be time to expand into the beautiful outdoor surroundings, and connect to nature with games, free play and wild walks, before going back to continue with our projects in the cosy Creative Hearth studio.
About your mentors
Daniel Yabsley
Storyteller and nature mentor
Having grown up surrounded by nature and usually found exploring and climbing trees, I feel passionate about guiding children and adults to connect to their natural surroundings. I also love to learn and tell stories, with all the richness of imagination they inspire. I have been combining these elements for the past 10 years, running weekly and monthly nature connection sessions for children in Sussex through the company I co-direct, Cultivating Curiosity.

I love to connect deeply with nature and my creativity and am passionate about helping others do the same. After teaching art and traditional crafts in the UK and abroad for 10 years while also exhibiting as an artist, I trained and have been working as a nature mentor in several local schools and with Cultivating Curiosity for the past 5 years. I am excited to blend these passions together in our new project, Creative Hearth, a new art and nature connection school.
