A summary

The Nature and Nurture programme, delivered by Barnardo’s Disability Support and Inclusion Service, supports children and young people with SEND in the East Riding who receive free school meals, along with their families. It provides a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for quality family time. Sessions are led by experienced staff and tailored to individual needs, offering a range of indoor and outdoor activities focused on nature and wellbeing. These include creative projects like bird box and bug hotel making, nature crafts, scavenger hunts, and mindfulness and relaxation activities. Please scroll down for information on what is happening on various dates during the holidays. Children and their families will have the opportunity to come together to prepare a healthy, delicious meal for lunch. This hands-on experience encourages teamwork, builds confidence in the kitchen, and supports positive conversations around nutritious eating. Families will not only enjoy the meal they’ve created but will also be able to take the recipe home, to recreate it together and continue building healthy meals beyond the session. At its heart, Nature and Nurture is about bringing families together, building confidence, and creating joyful, lasting memories - while exploring the benefits of the natural world.
