A summary
The Forest Skills session was designed to develop practical outdoor abilities, confidence, resilience, and an understanding of the natural environment through hands-on learning experiences. The session took place in a woodland setting where participants were encouraged to engage with nature while learning a range of bushcraft and woodland skills in a safe and supportive environment.
The session began with a group welcome and safety briefing. Participants were reminded of the site boundaries, safe working practices, and expectations for respectful behaviour towards both the environment and each other. A discussion about risk awareness encouraged learners to think about how to make safe decisions while working outdoors. This introduction helped create a positive atmosphere and prepared participants for the activities ahead.
