A summary
The RSYC HAF Programme delivered in Colyton provides a structured, supportive, and engaging environment for young people aged 11 to 16 during school holiday periods. As part of the UK’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) initiative, the programme aims to support the wellbeing, personal development, and social inclusion of young people, particularly those who may benefit from additional support outside of term time. The programme offers a wide range of planned activities designed to encourage participation, creativity, and positive engagement. Young people are provided with opportunities to take part in recreational and enrichment activities such as sports, team-building exercises, creative arts, group discussions, and practical workshops. These activities are carefully designed to help participants develop important life skills, including communication, confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving. By encouraging young people to explore new interests and challenge themselves in a safe setting, the programme promotes both personal growth and emotional wellbeing. A key feature of the RSYC HAF Programme is its commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants. Experienced youth workers and trained staff provide guidance, supervision, and support, ensuring that young people feel valued, respected, and listened to. The programme encourages positive relationships between peers and staff, helping to build trust and a sense of belonging within the group. This supportive atmosphere allows young people to express themselves, share experiences, and develop stronger social connections. In addition to activity-based learning and social engagement, the programme also provides access to nutritious meals during sessions. This element of the HAF initiative helps to promote healthy lifestyles and supports families by reducing the challenges associated with providing regular meals during school holidays. By combining physical activities, social interaction, and healthy food provision, the programme takes a holistic approach to supporting young people’s overall wellbeing. The RSYC HAF Programme also plays an important role within the local community by providing accessible opportunities for young people to stay active, engaged, and supported during holiday periods when structured activities may otherwise be limited. It helps reduce social isolation, promotes positive use of free time, and contributes to the development of responsible and confident young individuals. Overall, the RSYC HAF Programme in Colyton provides valuable support for young people aged 11 to 16 by delivering enriching experiences that promote wellbeing, personal development, and community engagement. Through its combination of structured activities, supportive relationships, and healthy food provision, the programme helps young people build essential skills, strengthen social connections, and develop greater confidence, contributing positively to their long-term growth and wellbeing.
