A summary
We want to hear from YOU! Join our youth pilot over Easter half-term to help design the future of youth programmes at RJ4All. Take part in our exciting timetable of activities across 5 days, including a football coaching session from MillWall Community Trust, boxing sessions, hands-on cooking workshops, a podcasting and film production class, and a visit to local artist's studio space where he'll show us how to use his materials. We'll have a delicious hot lunch every day and plenty of snacks. Have your say on what activities you enjoy, while developing your skills, like leadership, resilience and confidence, as well as gaining new friends, mentors and interests along the way. We'll see you there! WHO? RJ4All's team of trained restorative justice facilitators, volunteers and support workers will work in partnership with local delivery organisations to deliver engaging activities in a way that abides by the RJiNEAR model while maintaining proper safeguarding procedure. WHAT? Our youth programming will pilot a scientific model of intervention designed to strengthen youth resilience among children and young people who are at risk of involvement in youth offending. The RJiNEAR intervention is designed to support the development of resilience in children and young people through targeting specific domains of change: (1) positive identity, (2) emotional intelligence and relational competence, (3) values-based choices and actions, (4) responding to challenges with resilience and (5) familiarity with restorative justice as an ethos or set of values. Our team of trained facilitators, volunteers, and support workers will target these domains of change through engaging workshops, sports, and art activities! Restorative justice is an alternative approach to addressing harm and conflict, which centres the needs of affected parties, provides tools for resolving shared issues, and builds stronger, more resilient relationships for the future. WHERE? The Future Me, Future US pilot will be delivered primarily at the RJ4ALL Rotherhithe Community Centre located in South East London. Any day-trips will be local (Southwark Park, Canada Water, Peckham) and all young people and their guardians will be made aware of travel plans. WHEN? The pilot will be delivered over the course of five days during the Easter break: Thursday, 2 April 11:00 - 15:00 Tuesday 7 April 11:00 - 15:00 Wednesday 8 April 11:00 - 15:00 Thursday 9 April 11:00 - 15:00 Friday 10 April 11:00 - 15:00 Each day will combine workshops, sports, and art that center on one of the five domains of change outlined by the model.
