A summary

Join The Reptile Academy’s Reptile Ranger HAF Programme for hands-on animal encounters, reptile and amphibian care, STEM activities, outdoor games, creative challenges and hot nutritious meals. Designed for children aged 8–16, our inclusive programme supports confidence, teamwork and wellbeing in a fun, safe and SEND-friendly environment. All sessions include a hot, hearty and home cooked lunch from beef stew to cottage pie, as well as catering for other dietary options. What to Expect at Reptile Ranger HAF

The Reptile Ranger HAF Programme offers exciting, hands-on activity days where children can learn, explore and build confidence through animal-assisted education. Activities may include meeting reptiles and amphibians, animal care tasks, science experiments, nature activities, games, crafts and team challenges. Every day includes a healthy meal and opportunities to develop friendships, wellbeing and practical skills. Our sessions are inclusive and SEND-friendly, with experienced staff creating a safe, structured and supportive environment where every young person can thrive. Please wear suitable clothing and closed-toe footwear for animal and outdoor activities.

The Reptile Academy

The Reptile Academy is an accredited centre of excellence for reptile and amphibian education and animal welfare, specialising in SEND/SEMH education, residential placements and professional development. Our key partners include the Royal Society of Biology as well as Ofqual-regulated organisations ASDAN and AQA to deliver a portfolio of high-quality outcomes. We also work with several local authorities to deliver Holiday Clubs.

Learning aims

Aim 1

Confidence, Communication & Teamwork Children will develop confidence and social skills through group activities, games and interactive animal experiences.

Aim 2

Wellbeing, Nutrition & a Safe Summer Space Children will benefit from a safe, welcoming and structured environment during the school holidays, helping to support wellbeing.

Aim 3

Science, Discovery & Curiosity Children will explore the fascinating world of reptiles, amphibians and nature through engaging STEM and discovery activities.

Aim 4

Certificate Achievement At the end of the programme, attendees will receive a Reptile Ranger Certificate of Achievement recognising their participation and learning.

Aim 5

Animal Care Skills & Achievement Children will develop an understanding of animal care and welfare, including safe handling, feeding, hygiene and recognising animal needs.

Aim 6

Physical exercise! The day also includes at least 60-minutes of physical exercise, from target training monitor lizards, to tortoise races and outdoor games on the farm!

Places on the HAF programme are funded and limited. If your child can no longer attend, please notify us as soon as possible so the place can be offered to another young person.
