What we'll do
Join us on a family walk around Pennington Flash. WHEN PUTTING IN ADDRESSI INTO GOOGLE MAPS DO NOT JUST USE POSTCODE ALONE, ENTER FULL ADD. The main circular path is mostly flat and well-surfaced, making it suitable for families, pushchairs, and gentle group walks. This walk is 3.5 miles long and takes around 2 to 2.5 hours as a leisurely stroll We will meet at the main car park (parking costs apply) Leigh WN7 3UG Points of interest On and around Pennington Flash Birdwatching hides – Multiple hides around the lake give great views of waterfowl and migrating birds like lapwings, herons, finches and, with luck, rare species. Several hides overlook ponds such as Peggy’s Pond and Kidney Pond. Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club – Watch colourful yachts and dinghies on the water or enjoy watersports activities. The Hide Coffee House & café – A lakeside café with indoor and outdoor seating, ideal for refreshments and views. Children’s play area – Family-friendly playgrounds and picnic spots make it a great day out for all ages. Walks and cycle paths – A network of tracks around the flash links to wetland areas, woodlands and even the Leeds & Liverpool Canal towpath, where you can spot public artworks by sculptor Thompson Dagnall.
