Welcome to OSCA Childcare OSCA Childcare Limited is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing high-quality wraparound childcare for children aged 4–11 years within our community. We aim to create a warm, welcoming “home from home” environment where children feel happy, safe and valued, with safeguarding always at the heart of everything we do. As an Ofsted-approved provider, we offer breakfast, after-school and holiday club provision in a safe, positive and stimulating setting. We provide a wide range of age-appropriate activities both indoors and outdoors, along with healthy, freshly prepared meals. We can care for up to 30 children at one time, with children from Reception age through to Year 6 enjoying a mixed-age environment where younger and older children play and learn together. ________________________________________ A Day at OSCA Our day begins at 8:00am, where children are welcomed by our caring and friendly team. Children arriving in the morning can enjoy our breakfast buffet, which includes a selection of cereals, toast and crumpets with various toppings. Children are encouraged to independently choose and prepare parts of their breakfast, helping to develop confidence and life skills (with staff supporting safety with them). After breakfast, children are free to explore and enjoy the wide range of activities available around OSCA. Children may choose to: • Play with toys and games • Take part in arts and crafts • Help prepare food in the kitchen (under staff supervision) • Ride scooters and skateboards • Play football and ball games • Use climbing and play equipment • Spend time on the field or outdoor areas • Relax with friends in quieter spaces • Read books or play STEM games We pause during the morning for a mid-morning snack, typically fruit and biscuits. At lunchtime, all children sit together and enjoy a freshly prepared cooked meal and pudding made onsite by OSCA staff. Children often enjoy helping prepare food and may even assist in serving their friends, building confidence and encouraging independence. Whenever possible, we enjoy eating outdoors. After lunch, children have some quieter time where they can relax and enjoy a film or calm activities before continuing their afternoon of fun. Later in the afternoon children enjoy a lighter tea and pudding before spending the remainder of the day choosing activities they enjoy before collection time. Children can be collected anytime before 6:00pm. ________________________________________ Activities and Experiences At OSCA, we believe children should have opportunities to explore, create and try new experiences. Children regularly enjoy: Sports and Physical Activities • Football • Basketball • Hockey • Rounders • Team games • Playground activities • Scooters and skateboards • Climbing and trim trail equipment Sometimes we also welcome external coaches and visitors who run specialist sports sessions. Creative Activities Children have access to a huge variety of resources including: • Junk modelling • Colouring • Painting • Weaving • Construction resources • Seasonal crafts • Themed projects We also occasionally welcome external craft providers and workshop leaders. Special Activities Throughout holidays we often include: • Themed weeks • Special events • Visitors and workshops • Walking trips around Hayling Island • Minibus trips further afield • Film-making projects • Outdoor adventures No two holidays are ever quite the same! ________________________________________ Our Facilities One of the benefits of being based within Mengham Infant School is the fantastic range of spaces available to our children. Children can access: • Our main OSCA room • Kitchen area • Indoor eating space • School playground • Trim trail and climbing equipment • Quiet area • Large field • Woodland area • Outdoor gym equipment • Gardening area and pond • Shaded outdoor spaces • School hall for larger activities and visitors • Reception playground (when appropriate) • Toilet facilities These areas give us plenty of flexibility and allow children to experience a wide variety of activities throughout the day. ________________________________________ Food at OSCA We provide freshly prepared meals and snacks throughout the day. Breakfast Buffet • Cereals • Toast with toppings • Crumpets • Fruit and yoghurts Mid-morning snack • Fruit • Biscuits Lunch Freshly prepared meals cooked onsite, such as: • Pasta dishes • Roast meals • Curries • BBQs • Themed meals linked to activities Afternoon tea Examples include: • Beans on toast • Soup and rolls • Wraps • Lighter meals and snacks We provide weekly or holiday menus in advance for families wishing to view them. We can accommodate many dietary requirements including but not limited to: • Vegetarian • Vegan • Gluten-free options • Lactose free For reluctant eaters or children with very specific preferences, packed lunches may be discussed with management where appropriate. We always encourage children to try new foods in a positive and supportive way. ________________________________________ Choice and Independence At OSCA we strongly believe that children should enjoy their time with us. Children are never forced to take part in activities. We provide a variety of opportunities and encourage participation, while allowing children the freedom to make choices about how they spend their time. ________________________________________ Supporting All Children We aim to provide an inclusive environment and welcome children with SEND requirements. We have staff who can support children with additional needs and can access additional support where appropriate. We encourage parents and carers to speak with us before attendance so that we can discuss individual needs and ensure we provide the best possible support. ________________________________________ Our Team Our team consists of experienced, caring and professional staff who are passionate about supporting children. Depending on attendance numbers, children may see between 4–7 staff members each day.
