A summary

At Backyard we thrive off of teaching the skills of boxing to anyone who wants to learn!
You’ll be learning in a fun, safe, and engaging environment where young people can stay active during the school holidays while learning the fundamentals of boxing and fitness.

Participants will be introduced to core boxing techniques such as stance, footwork, punching combinations, and defensive skills, alongside general fitness activities including agility drills, strength exercises, and conditioning games.

Beyond physical training, the program aims to support personal development by promoting respect, self-control, and perseverance. The club provides a supportive atmosphere where young people can develop new skills, make friends, and improve their overall health and wellbeing.

There is car parking available just across the road from the club.

Marley Bygrave

I initially started boxing when I was a 12 years old at Horsham amateur boxing club and have fallen in love with the sport ever since and the life principles that it teaches you in the process of learning the trade. Boxing plays a massive part in my life and there is nothing more I enjoy than teaching to others , what I have laboured hard for over the years to learn. With 20 + amateur fights under my belt, I am an active boxer boxer training 6 days a week to gain all the experience I can for when I turn professional and pass on my knowledge whilst doing so.

Alfie Gamble

Hi, I’m Alfie, the Backyard Boxing gym manager and coach.

I’ve trained in a range of martial arts from a young age, including kickboxing, K1 and boxing. I started boxing with Marley right at the beginning, when he first opened his gym in his garden, and the rest is history. I went from being a student under Marley’s guidance to now managing the gym he owns, and I was given the opportunity to start coaching there from the very beginning.

Helping people progress and improve themselves has always meant a lot to me, so becoming a full-time coach brings me real satisfaction — especially seeing members grow in confidence and become the best version of themselves.

My ambition is to be the best coach I can be and to help everyone who walks through the doors reach their maximum potential.

You’ll see me involved in every session we offer, from juniors and youth classes to women’s boxing, circuit training and senior boxing.

Hope to see you down at the gym! ??
