AboutJoin Noah The Planet, Barking & Dagenham’s much-loved environmental mascot, for a special four-week creative environmental workshop programme designed for children and young people aged 7–14 who love drawing, painting, creativity, and making a positive difference within their community.
Every Friday from 4:00pm until 6:00pm, participants will work together to create colourful banners, environmental posters, positive messages, and creative campaign materials that will later be proudly used at Barking Carnival as part of a large environmental awareness initiative in partnership with the carnival organisers.
This is not simply an arts and crafts activity. The workshops form part of a much larger and ambitious environmental project aimed at encouraging festival visitors to use recycling bins correctly, reduce littering, and help keep the park clean and respected during the carnival celebrations.
The banners and artworks created by the children will be carried and showcased during Barking Carnival, where participants will join Noah The Planet in helping inspire the wider community through creativity, performance, and positive environmental action.
Children taking part should genuinely enjoy drawing, painting, and creative activities, as the sessions will be focused entirely around designing visual campaign materials and environmental messaging.
Participants will also have the exciting opportunity to:
Meet and work closely with Noah The Planet
Become part of Noah’s young “Eco Arktivists” team
Build confidence and teamwork skills
Meet other creative young people
Learn about recycling, climate awareness, and caring for public spaces
Contribute to a real public environmental campaign
Feel part of something meaningful and community-led
Parents and guardians should note:
Attendance and commitment are important as the workshops build towards the carnival presentation
Participants will be expected to take part in Barking Carnival on 11th July as part of the final environmental awareness activities
Parents/guardians will need to support their child’s attendance during the carnival event
No food will be provided during workshops as this project is currently self-funded and unfunded
Participants should bring their own drinks or snacks if needed, although water will be available if required
Above all, this project is about giving young people the opportunity to become part of something joyful, creative, and inspiring — helping Noah The Planet spread positive environmental messages and encouraging everyone to work together to protect our planet.
