A summary

Join Julie for a NEW Wharf Weenie session. Exploring music and rhyme with your little ones in one of Dapdune Wharfs buildings.

We will have lots of fun where your little ones can explore sounds with a variety of props and with musical instruments,. They can join in with some simple dance and movement games including use of a parachute. and there will be a simple craft activity for them to take part in if they want to. All the activities will help your little one to recognise sounds, learn new language and use their bodies to move around and explore.

By learning songs and rhymes your little ones will learn and recognise new words, language sounds and tones all of which helps with their language development. The session will finish with a simple story.

It will also be a good opportunity for parents to meet up and socialise too and enjoy the early years journey. Trust me it will fly by very quickly and before you know it they will be all grown up with a family of their own!

Afterwards you might want to visit the National Trusts bookshop or tea room for a tasty treat.

If these trial sessions prove popular we will continue them in the Spring Term, so your feedback will be very much appreciated.

About your mentor

Forest school and early years consultant

Play outdoors & dance like a toddler!

Forest school and early years consultant

I am currently Chair to the Surrey FSA group, and have over 25 years experience working in early years, outdoor education and forest school. I am also the Senior Officer to Woking Sea Rangers voluntary uniformed youth organisation. As well as running a toddler and parent Wharf Weenie sessions at Dapdune Wharf, I can offer support for adults operating forest school in Surrey showing good practice, skill sharing and advice. I'm passionate about storytelling and creativity in the outdoors and as a published author, ("Developing Creativity and Curiosity Outdoors in Early Years" with Routledge publishers) I can see the benefits of running outdoor sessions for those with early years in the beautiful setting of Dapdune Wharf, Guildford.. Most of all I like to sprinkle a little magic and fun!
