About your mentors
Green Synergy
Socialise, Learn and Thrive
Green Synergy is an award-winning Lincoln based gardening and horticulture charity that supports people to socialise, learn and thrive. Green Synergy use community gardening and therapeutic horticulture to support people to improve their mental health and wellbeing. Our charity supports people of all ages in the most deprived communities in Lincolnshire to improve their mental and physical wellbeing. Our charity currently manages two community gardens, Hillside Garden and Ellie’s Memorial Garden. We deliver community gardening programmes, volunteering, warm spaces and community engagement events to bring communities together to create more life chances, quality green spaces and re-connect people to green spaces, growing and nature. We work with disadvantaged communities and with people with additional needs, including those living with mental health conditions, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, long term health problems and unemployment. Gardening is used to build skills for life and work to improve mental and physical health and to educate people about the environment, food and green spaces.
Abbie
Happy & caring individual, supporting others
I moved to Lincoln three years ago and quickly found my place in a role that truly suits me. In September 2025, I joined Green Synergy as a Projects and Delivery Manager, where I lead both the team and a range of meaningful projects. I love what I do because it gives me the chance to help people, connect with a variety of individuals, and make a positive difference every day. Outside of work, I enjoy getting creative with arts and crafts, as well as spending time in the garden—gardening is my go-to way to relax and unwind.
Brodi
Projects Officer
I am a Projects Officer at Green Synergy and run all our children’s and young people’s programs. I enjoy this role because of the variety of work and the ability to incorporate my different passions and share them with others. Using gardening, craft, and games to educate and support our community has made such a difference to my own life. I get the opportunity to help children and adults alike in their development and get to see their personal growth which is an amazing opportunity.
Katie
Project Assistant
My role is Garden and Children’s Projects Assistant; I help the Projects Team to support volunteers and beneficiaries through different projects and sessions we run at Hillside Garden. I really enjoy interacting with the range of people I encounter through my role, as well as the variety of activities and tasks we provide at the garden. It is an amazing opportunity to be a part of and see the positive impact that Green Synergy has on people’s lives.
What else you may need to know
For finding us head to Green Synergy, 49 Roman Pavement, Lincoln, LN2 5RD. Once you have arrived there head to Hillside Garden, located just 100 meters walk away, simply cross the road heading left, follow this path round and take a right turn down the pathway. The garden will be on your right hand side. If you are struggling to find us knock on the door our Community Hub. As Nature Explorers takes place outdoors throughout the day, please check the weather forecast before attending and ensure your child is dressed appropriately. Depending on the conditions, this may include sun cream, a sun hat, a waterproof coat, wellies, and warm layers. We have outdoor shelters in place on the garden that remain available in all weather conditions, helping us to continue activities come rain or shine. As children will be taking part in a variety of craft activities, we recommend sending them with a bag so they have somewhere safe to store and carry home their creations. Hillside Garden is wheelchair accessible. If your child requires 1:1 support, we are happy for a parent, career, or support worker to attend the session alongside them to provide any additional assistance they may need. Please inform us of this when signing up for the event. Any additional people who come along to support a child will need to bring their own lunch.
