Our Nature Connections project offers a calm, nurturing space for neurodivergent families to come together, slow down, and reconnect with nature and with each other. Set within our peaceful private woodlands in Battle, East Sussex ?, these sessions are designed with deep care, understanding, and respect for neurodivergent needs. We know that mainstream spaces can often feel overwhelming or simply not built with your child—or your family—in mind. Nature Connections is different. It is a place where every member of the family is welcomed exactly as they are ?.
Sessions run on Thursday mornings from 10am–12pm ⏰, across two fortnightly groups:
• Ages 0–6 ??
• Ages 6–12 ??
Parents and carers stay throughout the session; this is not a drop-off group, but a shared family experience ?. We hold space for the whole family, recognising that wellbeing, regulation, connection, and belonging are interconnected.
Each session is child-led ?, allowing children to explore freely, follow their own interests, and engage with the woodland environment at a pace that feels right for them. There are no expectations to join in, no pressure to perform, and no forced socialising. Instead, we offer gentle invitations—exploring textures and sounds ?, simple craft opportunities ✂️, nature play ?, fire-side moments ?, sensory materials, and the chance to create, climb, dig, or rest. Families are encouraged to follow whatever feels regulating and grounding on the day.
Adults are warmly welcome to participate in activities alongside their children—or simply enjoy some quiet time by the fire ?, listening to the birds ? and soaking in the natural calm of the woods. Many parents tell us that these sessions become a weekly moment of reset for them as much as for their children ?.
Nature Connections is led by Katie, a qualified Nature-Based Practitioner (ITC Level 3) ?, with additional training in Reframing Behaviour and Stress Outdoors (ITC Level 3). Katie brings a deeply compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming approach, grounded in lived experience and the belief that nature offers a regulating, spacious environment where children can thrive without pressure ??.

Space for Yew
Space for Yew is a non profit Community Interest Company founded in 2024 to support neurodivergent adults, children and families. Our mission is to prevent isolation and enhance mental wellbeing. We currently offer the following services; Weekly Family Stay, Play and Learn sessions for families with children aged 0-8 - part of ESCC SEND Local Offer delivered in Ninfield and Etchingham. All sessions are child led with sensory play, arts and crafts, games and informal learning opportunities. We tailor activities to meet the diverse needs of the families attending that week. FREE monthly Coffee & Art mornings are aimed at parents/carers that are neurodivergent or have neurodivergent children. A great opportunity to meet like minded people in a supportive and creative space. We also offer training and wellbeing social sessions throughout the year for all ages. We support children that can't access formal education, that are on part time timetables, awaiting school placements, electively home educated and children that are in school. Staff all have lived and professional experience of neurodivergence including Autism, PDA and ADHD.
