What we'll do
Experience the seasonal nature highlights of the River Dart estuary, from our giant canoes. You'll have the best view with local guides who know the river better than anyone. Scheduled to coincide with some of the seasonal highlights, no trip will be the same. You can experience the changing character and wildlife of the estuary throughout the seasons. Paddling is easy, inclusive and accessible to all in our big, stable canoes. As with all our adventures, we will have time to stop on the shore to chill and enjoy a brew around a fire. Bring a picnic if you like! For evening trips this will likely be over dusk, so we paddle home under moonlight. Magical. Explore nature in recovery! The River Dart area is establishing a national reputation of nature recovery and rewilding. The Dart estuary ebbs and flows within a stunning landscape of rewilding, reforestation, traditional farming and saltmarsh restoration, including the famous Sharpham Estate. Our guides will be able to point out some of these positive changes underway. NB There are no guarantees when looking for wildlife, but we hope for these to include migratory shellducks in full feather, egret mating rituals, seals bottling in the summer high tide, ospreys on their stopover on their way south, starling murmurations and maybe kingfishers under the boughs of the oaks trees in their autumn colour.

Booking your kids?
Please note we may be sitting a little bit longer than on our usual adventures, and you''ll need to be able to sit still to see and hear the magic nature of the river. We suggest 12 as youngest age but we are not strict about that, so long as everyone can sit still and respect the experience for others on the trip. Also, if booking children, please note the late return on some of our evening trips, especially in mid-summer. We do loads of really great kids and family trips, and we regularly see great wildlife on those such as seals, fish, crabs, and the bigger birds. And we spend more time exploring the shore. So those are likely to be more suitable for your younger and more excitable crew!
