A Workshop for the Brighton Science Festival - Showing how Music IS Science.
On a fundamental level, all of existence is vibration. Music is just a system of organizing existing frequencies (resonant vibrations) into a pleasing series of sounds.
There are many standards/types of harmony. But we'll be concentrating on the 12 Tone Western Harmonic Series which all your favourite songs are written with.
But also, we'll just be making some improvised music, together, on the spot.
With an experienced musician to guide you, you'll be able to make a piece of music that you can keep forever after the session :)
I will have a selection of instruments, equipment and speakers, but it would be great if you bring your own instruments as well.
All ages of musicians are welcome.
These sessions are offered for the token price of £1 with the hope of bringing the experience of improvisation to everyone.

I have a music degree from the University of Sussex; a BA Hons in Professional Musicianship. I have been teaching music for over ten years and I am passionate and professional. I am an active musician, playing in the bands Zazu, Jukebox Manouche & The Majestic. I've been a musician more than half my life and love to see how people of vastly different abilities can still create together. It's like magic when it comes together. Music is where magic and reality meet - and I'd like to try to make some sense of this dichotomy :) ...With your help
