Moda Fashion Club - House of Culture

Marina at Moda Fashion Club

A summary
Sewing allows you to express your creativity and personal style through the fabrics, colours and designs you choose. This can be incredibly rewarding and empowering, helping to build confidence and a sense of self.
By sewing your own clothes and accessories, you can reduce your reliance on fast fashion and contribute to a more sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle. This can also be a great way to upcycle old clothes and reduce waste.
At Moda Fashion Club, we’re dedicated to creating a space that embraces creativity, celebrates diversity, and builds a strong sense of community here in Brighton.
Fashion knows no boundaries, and our classes are designed to empower non-binary individuals and everyone else to express themselves authentically. Together, we’re redefining what it means to belong in the world of fashion—where every story and every style is embraced.
We will guide you to expand your creativity and gain confidence when creating your own unique designs. Sewing skills will develop gradually and if you already have sewing knowledge, you will be sewing with lots of confidence, so you can make clothes that can’t be found anywhere else and express your personality through what you wear.

Classes
Fashion Design and Sewing Class for kids (Ages 7 -11)
Brighton
The sewing and fashion design classes for kids will teach absolute beginners how to create new clothing* and accessories, learning all the essential elements of design including measuring, cutting fabric, using patterns, and sewing machines. It’s also a great chance for children that have basic knowledge to improve their skills. It will provide students with a peek into the world of a professional Fashion Designer!
We will start with easy projects to understand the process of stitching and how to handle fabrics when sewing. Using felt materials and other malleable fabrics that are easy to handle to create beautiful patterns and learn hand stitching. Then gradually we will get familiar with using a sewing machine, making sure we are safe using the tools necessary such as pins, scissors and others. At the end of the summer term we will have the chance to create our designs and make our own clothes, e.g. Skirts, leggings and other summer clothes.
For children ages 7 - 11, is a perfect fit for students who:
-Has little to no machine sewing experience (we will teach you!)
-Has a creative flair and deep interest in fashion design specifically
interested in learning a new skill
-Wants to learn how to pull inspiration and sew using a pattern
* Materials/Fabrics: For some projects, students can use free donated swaps/fabrics provided at the Moda fashion club. For big projects students will buy their own fabric to create their outfits. I will give plenty of notice to parents to purchase the materials before starting the projects.
