A summary
Week 1: Sound and Sculpture, with artist Teresa Paiva. We will be working with lots of building and making materials including clay, cardboard and plaster to create our own noisy tactile sculptures. At the end of the workshop we could bring our creations to life with a collective performance, exploring sound and movement together!
Week 2: Print-making, with artist Rachel McGivern. We will be exploring texture and pattern through hands-on printmaking using everyday and found materials. We will explore collagraph plates, ink pads and layered prints using plasticine stamps. You can work, big, small, individually or collectively to create all different types of prints!
Week 3: Painting and Drawing, with artist Rachel McGivern. In this session we will be exploring mark-making, movement and sensory materials using lots of different drawing tools, spray bottles and even swinging pendulums! We will also play with music and light projections to enhance your creations.
Week 4: Designing Dream Spaces, with artist Rachel McGivern. Designing and building large-scale dream structures using cardboard boxes and found materials alongside smaller scale options for drawing and collage to develop ideas inspired by buildings and environments. What would your Dream Space look like?
About our space: sessions will take place in our dedicated studio space at MK Gallery. It offers a private, low-pressure place for small groups to get creative. There is always a comfy chill out area, drinks and snacks, and we also have lots of outdoor space to use if you would like to.

MK Gallery
MK Gallery brings world-class exhibitions and events together with pioneering learning and community programmes to Milton Keynes. An independent café and shop, cinema and spectacular views over Campbell Park feature in this expanded building, which launched in 2019. Three major exhibitions are presented each year across five elegant and spacious galleries, from thematic group exhibitions to in-depth solo presentations. Alongside our exhibitions, we offer workshops, talks and conferences, mixing emerging and locally based talent with established names. We also deliver a weekly film programme featuring the best of independent cinema in partnership with Curzon. We offer schools and family activities throughout the year and our artist-designed play area is open 365 days a year. MK Gallery works with partners locally, nationally and internationally to bring the best cultural activities into the region. The Gallery is part of the Arts Council’s National Portfolio and a member of the Plus Tate network.
