Masks, Rockets & Garden Feasts Get ready for a day full of creativity, science, and delicious food in this fun-filled, hands-on workshop! Start by crafting your very own mask, using leaves, flowers, bark, and other beautiful natural materials foraged from the Children’s Garden. Let your imagination run wild as you transform into forest creatures, garden spirits, or anything you can dream up! Then, take to the skies with our flying experiments! We’ll be building and testing bicarb rockets and designing paper planes to see whose creation can soar the highest or glide the furthest. It’s all about creativity, discovery, and a little friendly competition. Next, roll up your sleeves and explore the garden to harvest fresh ingredients. With your gathered produce, you'll help prepare a delicious lunch—think homemade, seasonal, and garden-fresh! Throughout the day, enjoy a variety of nature-based crafts and engaging games.

Growing Local CIC
GROW, COOK, EAT healthy & local Hereford food
Growing Local is a community interest company that encourages and educates communities to grow, cook and eat local food. In the summer of 2023 Growing Local took over a new 19-acre agricultural site, The Southside Farm, on the southern edge of Hereford to establish a veg box scheme, a children’s educational garden and heritage orchards. We work with schools and communities delivering educational programmes and events in sustainable food growing, nature, crafting, cooking and more.
How to Find Us
If WALKING/CYCLING we are at the end of the Great Western Way foot/cycle path - after the Belmont Wanderer's football fields - look out for our polytunnels! IF DRIVING we will meet you in the Belmont Wanderers football club car park at 9.50am and walk over together. The car park is at the end of Vernon Williams Close in Newton Farm, HR2 7BF. From here it's a short walk over to our farm.

Accompanying Adults
Children under 8 MUST be accompanied by a parent or carer - please book an adult place. Children 8 or over may be left, but adults are very welcome to stay if they wish to - please book an adult place.
