What we'll do
Lights, Camera… YOUR Story! Are you 11-15 years with a vivid imagination or an interest in film? Reinvent a classic tale with The Bright Foundation at the Benbow Arts Space. Choose a well-known tale and twist it—make it gothic, give it influencer drama, or turn it into something totally unexpected. On Day 1 you’ll work in groups using storytelling techniques to come up with your tale. Over the next three days, you’ll hit the set and start filming! With guidance from real Industry Pros, you'll get tips and support on set building, costume, lighting, camera tricks, special effects, and more. Day 5 is all about post-production. You’ll rotate through editing and sound design workshops to bring your film to the finish line. We’ll wrap up the week with a special screening for friends and family on Friday !

About your mentor
The Bright Foundation
Inspiring young minds through the arts
The Bright Foundation is an arts education charity founded by Academy Award winning costume designer John Bright. They offer a programme of life enhancing creative learning to children and young people, particularly those experiencing disadvantage. The programme includes school visits, summer schools, performance projects, cross-curricular learning, wellbeing retreats, volunteering, family festivals, skills training, and career support. The Barn Theatre and Museum is set in 24 acres in a rural location just outside Hastings. The Barn Theatre is a 50 seat children’s theatre and workshop studio that presents inspirational puppet shows and theatre productions to children, young people and their families. The adjoining museum showcases John Bright’s personal collection of period toys, puppets and theatre sets dating from the 18th century to the present day. The Benbow Arts Space in St Leonards-on-Sea offers a programme to support young people between the ages of 11-21 to pursue their training and career ambitions, inspired by John Bright’s Early Cinema Exhibition.
