A summary
Ever wanted to climb all of Snowdonia peaks over 3000 feet high? But scared of heights? Now’s your chance! This is a VERY tough challenge, but after being asked a few times about it but a fear of heights has put many of our off, this is all the highest peaks without the two that require a head for heights. Your fitness is important and you will need to train on hills! But none of the peaks have any exposed drops that you are on the edge of. Crib goch and Tryfan have been taken out of the equation. Day 1- elevation 1335m 12 miles Day 1 is the longest. After dropping off cars, we will start at Aberfalls. Covering the following in order, Foel Fras, Carnedd Gwenllian, Foel grach, Carnedd Llewelyn, Carnedd Dafydd then Pen y ol Day 2 - elevation 1343m 11 miles Day 2 is also a point to point hike so lift sharing will be required leaving two cars at either end. Starting with Glyder fach, Glyder Fawr, y Garn and finishing with Elydir. Day 3- elevation 995m 11 miles Day 3 is a circular hike. Starting with Crib y drysol (aka Carnedd Ugain) Then finishing on Snowdon. Kit needed EVERY DAY- Rucksack 25-30 litres Walking boots or trail shoes with good support and grip Comfortable trousers, t shirt Spare t shirt 2 fleece jumpers, one to wear and one for your rucksack Spare socks Waterproof coat Waterproof trousers Hat and gloves Spare gloves A minimum of 2 litres of fluid (water, squash) Sandwiches, snacks (both sugary and salty) Dried fruit, chocolate etc Blister plasters Painkillers Head torch and spare batteries Camera and phone Every day you will need all this kit, so make sure to pack three of everything! (Except footwear and waterproofs) Accommodation is not included. There are plenty of campsites near to the area. The ideal area is between Bethesda and Capel Curig, there is a YHA and a couple of campsites. If you are booking for 2026 an email confirming booking, itinerary and kit list will be sent out in the new year. About your mentor
Jan
Mud, sweat and fun!
My name is Jan Phillips, I am qualified mountain leader, I qualified in 2017 after many years before hiking in North Wales. I used to be a running coach too and had my own running club before the pandemic. I am a gym instructor and run spin and kettle bell classes too. I love getting people out in the hills, it is both a great way of keeping fit and blowing away the cobwebs! I grew up on a sheep farm in North Wales and have always loved the great outdoors. My parents were keen hikers too, my first time up Snowdon was at age 8 months in the baby carrier! I also work in the NHS in community dental services specialising in special needs, sedation and urgent care as a dental nurse.
fitness
You need to be very fit and very strong in the hills. This is a very tough event and you will need to have trained well. You will also need a head for heights!
