A summary

Sometimes it can seem like playing an instrument is an ability people are just born with. But some of the very greatest guitarists are clear about the huge benefits of getting some expert tuition. As a graduate in music myself I've been lucky to have great teachers, and I know the best way to learn is by doing what you love. That's why I show you how to develop your skills and potential by using the songs, riffs, licks and solos that you want to learn, and by introducing you to other material that you'll enjoy. You should have fun learning to play guitar, and that's something I take seriously.

About your mentor

Andy Evans

Andy Evans

I have been playing guitar and teaching professionally for decades. I graduated with honours in music, majoring in composition and analysis. This helps enormously as my regular activities involve arranging and transcribing music for students so that lessons are tailored specifically to their needs. I have spent many years gigging and recording in bands, as a solo artist, as a session player and with various ensembles and can easily cover a wide range of styles. Although I have experience of class and group teaching I primarily teach one-to-one and have helped many students to realise their musical goals. In some cases this includes taking music exams (I have a 100% success rate!) or performing publicly. But in all cases my aim is to free students to enjoy the experience of making music.
