A summary

Our korfball sessions are fun and exciting for kids of all abilities and experience levels!

We give the kids the chance to shoot at our unique korfball posts before we start our warmup which will probably be some running-around games. Then we practice korfball skills like passing and catching the ball (also useful in lots of other sports!) and shooting at the posts, then we play a match.

We split either some or all of the session into younger and older ages, so kids can train with their own age group.

We will also offer (optional) the chance to play in weekend matches a few times a term, for players of all abilities.

For Wednesdays, if a family has a younger child in this kids session and also an older sibling in the youth session continuing until 19:15, we are happy to look after the younger child until 19:15.

FAQs

What is korfball?

Korfball is a an exciting ball sport where boys and girls play together to throw and catch the ball and shoot it into the unique korfball baskets (a bit like netball and basketball hoops). It is a very friendly and inclusive sport with opportunities for children and adults of all abilities from absolute beginner to international level!

What do we need to wear/bring?

A child just needs to come in normal sports kit and trainers, we also suggest bringing a drink.

Who leads the sessions?

The sessions are led by our experienced, DBS-checked korfball coaches.

Can parents stay to watch all or part?

Yes! The majority of parents drop off, but some decide to stay and watch.

Is it indoors or outdoors?

In the autumn term and spring term, all training and matches are indoors. In the summer term, some training sessions stay indoors and some move outdoors, and matches move outdoors (either on a playground/hard court or on grass).

Are there matches or competitions? If so, when?

Yes! For primary school aged children (school years 2-6) we are starting a local mini-league here in MK for the 2026/27 school year, which we are aiming to be in two age groups. We also arrange matches and tournaments throughout the year against either local schools, or the nearest other korfball clubs which are in Cambridge or Oxford (these could be home or away - we appreciate not everyone can travel)
For secondary school age, we continue with the home and away tournaments against the Cambridge teams and can sometimes also get other clubs to come and play us in MK as well. We aim to keep expanding our match programme.
Matches are usually on either Saturday or Sunday afternoons, which hopefully avoids clashes with morning activities. They are all optional and open to all abilities.
