A summary
Many programmes focus on teaching techniques. IDEA Futures' Fine Art & Visual Storytelling Bootcamp is designed to help young creatives develop confidence, imagination, and the ability to express ideas through art. Through hands-on studio projects, creative experimentation, and guidance from practising artists and educators, students will explore how stories, emotions, and ideas can be communicated visually. Whether through drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, digital art, or creative storytelling projects, participants will be encouraged to explore different ways of making and develop their own unique creative style. More than simply creating finished artwork, the programme helps students learn how artists generate ideas, experiment with materials, solve creative challenges, and share their work with others. In a supportive and inclusive environment, participants will build artistic skills, creative confidence, and a collection of work they can be proud of. • • • Why IDEA Futures Not every young person learns best in a traditional classroom. This programme is designed for students who: • Love drawing, making, creating, and storytelling • Want to develop their artistic skills and confidence • Enjoy learning through practical, hands-on activities • Think and work differently, including neurodivergent learners • Are looking for a supportive and creative environment • Want to meet like-minded young artists and explore new ideas We focus on creativity, curiosity, and personal growth, helping students gain confidence in both their ideas and their artwork. What You'll Gain • Greater confidence in your creativity • New skills across a range of art materials and techniques • Experience using both traditional and digital creative processes • Stronger observation, research, and visual communication skills • The ability to develop and share your own ideas • A collection of artwork and creative projects to take home IDEA Excellence Award The £200 IDEA Excellence Award will be presented to the student who demonstrates exceptional creativity, commitment, curiosity, and development throughout the programme. The award recognises not only strong final outcomes, but also imagination, experimentation, problem-solving, effort, and enthusiasm for learning. The recipient will embody IDEA Futures' values of creativity, curiosity, and excellence. Programme Completion Certificates All students who successfully complete the programme will receive an official certificate of completion recognising their participation, achievements, and creative development throughout the bootcamp. How It Works • Studio-led, hands-on creative sessions • Individual feedback and encouragement • Creative projects designed for different learning styles • A balance of traditional art-making and digital creativity • Opportunities to experiment, collaborate, and share ideas Who It's For • Young people aged 11–14 with an interest in art, creativity, and storytelling • Students who enjoy drawing, painting, making, or designing • Beginners and experienced young artists alike • Anyone looking for a fun and inspiring creative summer experience Programme Details • Location: London, Hammersmith • Duration: 2 weeks • Schedule: 5 sessions per week Outcome Participants leave with: • A collection of original artwork and creative projects • New artistic skills and techniques • Greater confidence in their creative abilities • Experience working in a professional studio environment • Inspiration and ideas for future creative development Many programmes teach skills. IDEA Futures helps young people develop imagination, confidence, and creative thinking. Through hands-on studio practice, creative exploration, and personalised guidance, students learn how to turn ideas into meaningful artwork while discovering new ways to express themselves and tell stories through visual art. This version is much more appropriate for 11–14-year-olds and will also resonate better with parents looking for a creative summer programme rather than a pre-university portfolio course.
