A summary

This creative, summer workshop at the Marina Theatre is for young children who enjoy reading, drama and using their imaginations! Each session, the group will explore a different book and use it as the inspiration for all activities in that session. Sessions will feature the wonderful Jo (The Children's Coach) and begin with an interactive introduction to the chosen story - followed by themed games, discussions and imaginative storytelling activities that explore the book’s characters, settings and key events! Through drama exercises, movement and creative play, children will deepen their understanding of the story while developing confidence, communication skills and teamwork. Each session will build towards the children acting out the story together in an informal, supportive setting. Rather than rehearsing for a staged production, the focus is on participation, creativity and enjoyment; allowing every child to contribute and bring the story to life in their own way! These activities will encourage a love of reading and support those important literacy and communication skills, whilst nurturing self-expression and imagination. It is a programme that encourages empathy and builds on emotional literacy and offers a fun and engaging space for young readers to step inside a new exciting story each session. This workshop is free for children who receive free school meals, and is part of Suffolk County Council's HAF programme. Children will excitingly receive a copy of the chosen book to take home! ✨ Learn more about Jo, The Children's Coach here: www.thechildrenscoach.com For more information and enquiries, please contact us at: community@marinatheatre.co.uk
