Library address: Ipswich County Library, Northgate Street, Ipswich, IP1 3DE 20 July- Kelly Hammond- Yarn Art 27 July- Eloise Cookson- Character Design 10 August- Eleanor Rodwell- Plaster Relief Casting 20 July- Kelly Hammond Threads of Creativity: A Yarn Art Workshop This full-day creative workshop invites participants to explore colour, texture and self-expression through yarn art. Using canvases to create unique textile-inspired artworks using wool. Like painting but with yarn! The workshop is designed to be accessible to all abilities and encourages creativity, mindfulness and connection. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with different materials, colours and patterns while developing their own individual designs in a relaxed and supportive environment. Throughout the day, participants will build confidence in their creative practice, share ideas with others and enjoy the process of making. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have completed a finished yarn art piece to take home. Kelly is a small independent haberdashery owner in the heart of Debenham. Her shop is more than just a place to buy fabric, yarn and buttons — it’s a creative space built on connection, colour and community. Kelly holds a diploma in Interior Design and in crochet. She’s used her skills to teach others her creative trade where groups come together to make a variety of things including knitting and crochet. 27 July- Eloise Cookson Whether this is the first time creating your own character or you already have existing characters, this workshop will support and level up your character designing skills! Eloise will first introduce some character design principles she uses in her own process with examples from animated media and comics. Throughout the day with different character designing activities, taking inspiration from objects, nature, as well as their own passions and interests, participants will explore how to practically incorporate these concepts when creating their original characters. By the end of the workshop, participants will go home with their character concepts & illustrations for the day, having created their characters and an idea for the world and story they live in. Eloise is a local artist who specialises in digital art. Her work takes inspiration from manga & animation, and she takes interest in visual storytelling through character design & self-expression. As a young artist herself, Eloise is also passionate about providing in-person resources and guiding all young people interested in digital art and styles inspired by manga & animation. 10 August- Eleanor Rodwell Join artist Ellie Rodwell in a day of drawing and casting. Participants will experiment with fun drawing activities and make their own plaster relief cast to take home, using found natural objects and clay. Eleanor is a Suffolk-based multi-disciplinary artist, whose practice is rooted in mark-making, the landscape and translating emotional experience. Her mediums span drawing, painting, sculpture and metal casting. She has exhibited both internationally and within the UK, with three solo shows since 2021. With broad experiences in curation, leading creative workshops and working as a bronze foundry assistant, she is now a studio member of the Suffolk artist co-operative Asylum Studios.

Grace Dersley
Relief Library & Information Advisor
A regular member of the team at Gainsborough Library, who loves to read, write and create. I used to work weekends and help run Girls Group in 2022, but now can often be found covering shifts on the weekdays and in school holidays. Radio and music are my other passions and I'm always trying to link them to my library work one way or another!

Cancellation Policy
Free bookings do not require refunds but as places are limited, please cancel if you cannot attend so that your place can be offered to someone else.

My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
